Job summary

KLS Earthworks Inc. is looking for experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our Alberta field team in Calgary. You will operate excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, packers, rock trucks and other heavy equipment with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will inspect equipment, read site plans, and coordinate with ground crews to keep projects moving smoothly. Willingness to travel and work extended hours is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
• Experience operating excavator, dozer, loader, grader, skid steer, packer, rock truck or similar.
• Finish grading and GPS/machine-control experience are strong assets.
• Ability to safely work around underground utilities and active ground crews.
• Physically capable of construction-related duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate one or more types of heavy construction equipment.
• Complete earthworks, excavation, grading, loading, backfilling, material placement, site development.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, safety checks, and basic maintenance.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, ground markings, and other project information.
• Work safely around underground and overhead utilities.
• Maintain required grades, depths, slopes, and elevations.
• Utilize GPS and machine-control systems where applicable.
• Identify equipment issues or unsafe conditions and report them.
