Qualifications

  • Must have CSTS 2020 or CSO certification.
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course required.
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED or OFA Level 1 certification.
  • WHMIS 2015 certification (provided during onboarding).
  • TDG certification (provided during onboarding).
  • Ground Disturbance 201 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Attend safety meetings and follow directions.
  • Maintain equipment as part of preventative maintenance.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance and direction of the site foreperson or direct supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in an efficient, safe, and appropriate manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life while supporting construction activities.

Employees are expected to support and participate in a "culture of safety" and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, treating others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

PROJECT DETAILS

Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station

Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)

Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off

Travel pay: $400/shift

Camp retention: $25/day

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform other activities at construction sites as directed
  • Attend and participate in various meetings such as monthly safety meetings, pre-job, and tailgate meetings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Capable of working well on a team or individually
  • Capable of following directions spoken or given by hand signals
  • Detail-oriented with a mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather
  • Must be capable of getting to the designated job site
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to mechanically maintain the equipment
  • Follow Strike’s preventative maintenance program, including greasing, oil checks, hydraulic checks, undercharge checks, etc., daily
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Safety Tickets Required

  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training Certificate
  • WHMIS 2015 (Strike can provide during onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide during onboarding)
  • Ground Disturbance 201
