Job summary

Nasittuq Corporation invites applications for a Heavy Equipment Operator role at remote Arctic sites in Nunavut. The position follows a 6-weeks-on, 6-weeks-off rotation with company-provided travel to and from site.

You will operate loaders, graders, dozers and trucks, maintain roads and runways, and support site operations in challenging conditions. Candidates must hold a DZ with air brake certification and a valid GDL, plus experience with MSE and heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Heavy Equipment Operator with DZ Licence and Air Brake Certification.
• Valid Class G Driver's Licence.
• Experience operating loaders, graders, dozers, dump trucks, and vehicles with trailers.
• Ability to work in remote Arctic locations and adverse weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roads, grounds, and gravel surfaces to ensure safe route passage.
• Safely operate standard construction and heavy equipment including front-end loaders, dozers, graders, trucks, dump trucks, and forklifts.
• Perform daily inspections and operational checks of vehicles and equipment prior to use.
• Assist with Mobile Support Equipment (MSE) maintenance and repairs and document maintenance activities.
• Clean vehicles, perform fuel dips and fuel transfers, and assist with sealift material delivery.
• Load and unload helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
• Respond to site preservation and environmental emergencies.
• Identify maintenance requirements and provide support with PMI and other site operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of site operations.

What You'll Do:

Who You Are:

CREDENTIALS: Licensed Heavy Equipment Operator with Air Brake Certification (DZ Licence). Valid Class G Driver's Licence. Operators of GFE Mobile Support Equipment (MSE) must complete a Safe Backing Course.

EXPERIENCE: Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, dozers, dump trucks, and similar equipment in a safe manner. Experience or training operating vehicles with attached trailers is required.

SKILLS: Knowledge of truck and equipment safety, road construction and maintenance techniques, equipment maintenance and storage, and workplace safety procedures. Ability to safely operate heavy equipment including front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snow blowers, and other mobile support equipment. Strong problem-solving, communication, time-management, and documentation skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adverse weather conditions in remote Arctic locations while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to travel as part of a small team to adjacent sites to perform Heavy Equipment Operator functions.

Please note that employment at North Warning System is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance or Secret Level Security Clearance.
