Job summary

Nasittuq Corporation seeks a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic for the remote CFS Alert site. The role offers a stabilizing full-time 8-week-on / 8-week-off rotation, with travel from anywhere in Canada and on-site living arrangements.

A reliable security clearance and Red Seal certification are required, plus extensive HVT experience. You will perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles and related equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency in extreme Arctic conditions,

Qualifications

  • Red Seal qualification for Canada as a mechanic or automotive service technician.
  • DVNT/310S and 310T diesel endorsements preferred.
  • DND 404 driver permit eligibility and reliability security clearance.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining/heavy vehicles and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, efficient HVT maintenance services on site.
  • Perform first- and second-line repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
  • Provide HVT recovery service and diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Repair/replace parts across fuel, brakes, steering, suspension, engine, drive train, exhaust, climate control, and electrical systems.
  • Document PM/CM work orders and input into maintenance system.
  • Support government reports and client relations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide safe, efficient, and effective provision of HVT maintenance services
  • Provision of all first- and second-line repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance to all vehicles and equipment as well as related attachments
  • Provide HVT recovery service
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of vehicles
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems.
  • Preventative maintenance as it relates to repairing or replacing worn parts.
  • Provide appropriate technical assistance to the maintenance of auxiliary equipment
  • Complete and submit all PM/CM WOs to the TVM for input into the appropriate maintenance management system
  • Provide input into the Government Furnished Equipment and Vehicle Report, the Transport and Vehicle Maintenance Services Requirements Forecast Report and the Vehicle Off Road Report
  • Contribute to the strong positive relations between the Company and the client.

Who You Are:

CERTIFICATE(S) / LICENSE(S):

  • Red Seal qualified in Canada as a mechanic or automotive service technician
  • Must be trained in driving with an attached trailer and safe backing
  • Must be qualified with Motor Vehicle Mechanics 310S (310SAutomotiveTechnician up to 9000kg)
  • Must be qualified with Motor Vehicle Mechanics 310T, including diesel endorsement
  • M u s t be eligible for a valid DND 404 Driver Permit
  • Requires Government of Canada Reliability security clearance
  • Must pass a medical examination

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles and related equipment

What We Offer:

  • Fly-In Fly-Out Schedule: 8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site rotation. Travel from home to site is paid from any location in Canada, with overnight stays in Thule, Greenland, as required.
  • Living Arrangements: Private accommodations with meals, Wi-Fi, TV, laundry facilities, and recreational access provided while on site.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, plus employer-matched pensions up to 6%.
  • Competitive Compensation: Hourly rate of $55.96 - $58.91 for 40- hour workweeks (Monday–Friday), and opportunities for overtime. Additional $27 daily isolation allowance for every day on site.
  • Additional Perks: 6% vacation pay on every paycheque, Arctic clothing provided, and an annual safety footwear allowance of $17
  • Development Opportunities: Training for certifications and skill development with reasonable expenses covered.
