Job summary

Suncor in Fort McMurray is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to contribute to oil sands mining operations by operating ultra class haul trucks in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. This role supports site production goals while upholding safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

The position offers a six days on/six days off rotation with 12-hour shifts, not camp-based, and requires a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment including haul trucks, wiggle wagons, graders, excavators.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Be a positive contributor to building safety culture.
• Perform walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments.
• Follow operating standards and procedures.
• Operate haul trucks and other heavy equipment as required.
• Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately.
• Communicate updates to supervision to meet goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 2 years experience with operating equipment (haul trucks, wiggle wagon, dozers, graders, excavators) in industries such as mining, civil earthworks, pipelines, sawmills, pulp and paper mills or manufacturing, or highway construction

• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or Canadian Adult Educational Credential (CAEC) or 10+ years of workexperience

• A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

• Operate various makes and models of haul trucks

• Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately

• Communicate updates to your supervisor to ensure that you meet all goals and objectives

Location and other Key details:

• You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray

• The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

• This isnota camp-based role

• This position is safety sensitive
