Job summary

Suncor in Fort McMurray invites a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our mining operations, operating ultra class haul trucks safely and efficiently to support site production goals. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and operational excellence, with a six-on/six-off, 12-hour shift schedule and a strong benefits package.

Candidates should have 2+ years of equipment experience and a valid driver’s license; on-site training is provided.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience operating haul trucks, wiggle wagons, graders and excavators in mining or heavy civil environments.
• High School Diploma, GED, CAEC or 10+ years of work experience.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments
• Follow our operating standards and procedures
• Operate various makes and models of haul trucks
• Report all incidents, damage, and near misses immediately

Overview

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will have the opportunity to become a dedicated contributor to our oil sands mining operations by operating ultra class haul trucks in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. This role is essential to supporting site production goals while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years experience with operating equipment (haul trucks, wiggle wagon, dozers, graders, excavators) in industries such as mining, civil earthworks, pipelines sawmills, pulp. and paper mills or manufacturing, or highway construction.
• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or Canadian Adult Educational Credential (CAEC) or 10+ years or work experience.
• A valid driver’s license and a cleaning driving record.

LOCATION & OTHER KEY DETAILS

• You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray
• The shift schedule is six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12 hour shifts)
• This is not a camp-based or fly in/fly out position
• This position is safety sensitive
