Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Reports To: Service Manager/Shop Foreman/Service Advisor

Hours and Pay Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Non-exempt position.

Company Overview: Haaker Equipment Company employs approximately 90 employees across five branches in La Verne, Santee, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Central Valley. We pride ourselves on providing top products and service, empowering our employees to make customer-focused decisions.

Job Summary: This role requires general mechanical experience. The technician will work under supervision, receive daily work assignments, and perform tasks according to schedule, documenting all work. Effective communication with customers and staff regarding repairs is essential.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs on customer equipment, both indoors and outdoors, in various environments.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on customer and company-owned equipment.
  • Accurately report and track work hours.
  • Complete repair orders efficiently and accurately.
  • Diagnose and perform repairs, determining necessary tools and equipment.
  • Operate and monitor equipment for diagnostics and repairs.
  • Inspect equipment for additional work needs.
  • Position parts and equipment safely, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Tag parts for warranty repairs per factory guidelines.
  • Create parts lists for repairs.
  • Read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Communicate with supervisors about additional work or repairs not needed.
  • Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Maintain 90% billable hours.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks like cutting, measuring, welding.
  • Keep workspaces clean and organized.
  • Stay updated with factory training, tech tips, and bulletins.
  • Follow safety policies and report issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of mechanical experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to identify component failures and perform quality repairs.
  • Good customer and internal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B license within 120 days.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical positions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Over 5 years of experience on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with our product lines.
