GFL Environmental in Cranbrook, BC is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team. You will maintain and repair diesel, CNG, gas, and electrified trucks and heavy equipment, ensuring safe and reliable service for our fleet.

You will plan repairs with M5 Planner, order parts, and uphold accurate maintenance records, while adhering to safety standards and contributing to a collaborative, safety‑driven workplace with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (required).
• Experience in maintenance, repair, or rebuild of heavy-duty diesel and alternative-fuel equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals and parts catalogs.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks and heavy equipment.
• Use power tools, hand tools and the latest equipment in troubleshooting and repair.
• Complete daily reports, work orders and order necessary parts.
• Plan and schedule repairs using M5 Planner and procure parts.
• Assist in reviewing write-ups and coordinating repair schedules.

A Day in the Life

• Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment
• Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting‑edge equipment
• Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts
• Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 Planner and procuring parts
• Assisting in the review of mechanical write‑ups and coordinating repair schedule

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
• 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Relevant criteria for safety‑sensitive functions according to company standards
• Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
• Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job duties
• Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
• Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
• Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
