Job summary

First Student, Inc. in Prince Albert, SK, is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair school buses and transit vehicles. You’ll work with a safety-focused maintenance team on year-round, local scheduling, with competitive wages.

We offer a $39-$50 hourly rate plus a $5,000 new hire bonus and a $5,000 relocation bonus for eligible candidates, plus benefits, RRSP matching, paid holidays, and opportunities for Red Seal certification and career growth.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with diesel engines, commercial transport vehicles, or transit buses.
• Own a basic mechanic's tool set.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• A reliable, professional approach to your work.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on school buses and transit vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain and repair brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately.
• Respond to mobile service calls when required.
• Work as part of a safety-focused maintenance team.
