Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a dedicated Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic to support customers in and around Swift Current. You will service ultra-class Caterpillar machines in both shop and field environments, bringing hands-on experience to a trusted, safety‑focused team.

The ideal candidate holds Interprovincial certification, with strong electrical, hydraulic and emission system expertise, plus engine or component rebuilding experience.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification is required.
• 3rd or 4th Year Apprentices may be considered.
• Alternative Journeyperson Certifications will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in shop or field environments (remote locations possible).
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure value for work performed.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment to determine repair scope.
• Provide support with on-site safety requirements.
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment.

Job Description

• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment

Specific Skills & Experience

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
• Clean Drivers’ Abstract (Field roles)
• Strong experience in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems
• Engine and/or component rebuilding experience
• Transmission or Hydraulic testing knowledge
• Previous gas engine and power generation experience is an asset

Important Details

• A condition of employment may include the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable
• 3rd or 4th Year Apprentices will be considered
• Alternative Journeyperson Certifications will be considered
