Job summary

ConeTec is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to keep our drilling equipment in top condition across challenging environments.

You will work on engines, hydraulics, pumps and support systems, performing preventative maintenance and diagnostics while training towards advanced mechanic qualifications. Expect outdoor duties and potential travel for site work requiring a strong work ethic and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with industrial heavy equipment including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, brakes, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems.
• Inspect and test to detect faults and malfunctions in drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Perform duties ranging from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Contribute to the development of apprentices and work as part of a team to accomplish maintenance goals and targets
• Service attachments and working tools
• Verify and repair emission control systems

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice, you will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our equipment is well-maintained and ready to perform in challenging environments. Key Responsibilities

Professional Experience / Qualifications

• 3 + years of experience with industrial heavy equipment including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps

• Ability to diligently organize work, make decisions, and set priorities

• Valid driver's license

• Previous experience working on drilling equipment is an asset.

• Strong interpersonal skills

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• 3rd or 4th year qualifications in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics.
