Job summary

ConeTec Group is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to maintain our fleet of drill units, diesel compressors and hydraulic equipment across demanding job sites. You will diagnose faults, perform preventive maintenance and support safety‑driven operations.

Candidates should have 3+ years of heavy equipment experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s licence. We offer a strong safety culture, travel opportunities, and competitive pay ranging from $30 to $40 per hour

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with industrial heavy equipment including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps.
  • Ability to diligently organize work, make decisions, and set priorities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Previous experience working on drilling equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and reassemble engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, brakes, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems.
  • Inspect and test drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs, including troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Contribute to the development of apprentices and work as part of a team to accomplish maintenance goals and targets.
  • Service attachments and working tools.
  • Verify and repair emission control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems
  • Inspect and test to detect faults and malfunctions in drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Contributing to the development of apprentices and working as part of a team to accomplish maintenance goals and targets.

Professional Experience / Qualifications

  • 3 + years of experience with industrial heavy equipment including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps
  • Ability to diligently organize work, make decisions, and set priorities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Previous experience working on drilling equipment is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Education
