THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a certified trades person looking to join a “best in class” maintenance team? Western Forest Products is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Value Added Division in Chemainus, BC!

What We Offer:

  • Hourly premiums on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift

$/7000 Signing Bonus & Relocation Assistance Available

Shifts: Monday - Friday

This position is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate and follow Western's health and safety program and policies;
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical on mobile fleet;
  • Work with dealers/vendors on maintaining inventory on critical components of equipment;
  • Perform minor welding repairs on equipment;
  • Ensure equipment repair log books are up to date and accurate;
  • Maintain a organized and clean shop;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Must be fully ticketed Red Seal HD Mechanic;
  • All applicants must have a valid BC driver's license and be able to provide a driver's abstract.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

  • Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast sawmill equipment (forklifts, boom boats, skid steers and log Loaders);
  • Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills are a benefit;
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic;
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills;
  • Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement;
  • Accountable and dependable.
