Job summary

Canfor is seeking a certified Heavy Duty Mechanic for its Skookumchuk Log Chipping Facility. This full-time role runs Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with at least 40 hours weekly. You will maintain and repair mobile equipment and uphold safety and lockout procedures.

Applicants should hold a Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial certificate and possess hydraulics, electronics and welding skills, plus strong troubleshooting and teamwork abilities.

We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to work at our Skookumchuk operation. L ocated in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia,Canfor’s Skookumchuck site operates a Whole Log Chipping facility that plays a key role in supporting our woodlands operations. The site processes sustainably harvested pulp logs into high‑quality wood chips, contributing to Canfor’s low‑carbon product portfolio.

This role is a full-time weekday schedule (Monday - Thursday 6:00AM - 4:30PM) Minimum of 40 hours per week.

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

As part of the Skookumchuk team you will apply your knowledge of at our highly technical and innovative mill facilities. You will also:

• Ensure safety standards are met by following Canfor safe work and lockout procedures
• Develop strong working relationships with your peers and team
• Maintain and repair mobile equipment such as; 325D High decker

For this role, you will come equipped with:

You are an excellent trouble-shooter who has well-developed technical skills along with a Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial certificate, a strong background in safe work practices and a desire to work in a team environment where shift work may be required.
