Job summary

Penn-co Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Apprentice to join our Service Department. The role offers full-time, permanent employment with projects at Blumenort, MB and remote site locations across Canada.

You’ll diagnose, service, and repair a diverse fleet, from excavators to cranes, while continuing to develop your trade skills. We welcome registered apprentices and seasoned mechanics alike who enjoy learning, troubleshooting, and travelling to project sites.

Qualifications

Registered HD Equipment Technician apprentice or hands-on experience, with strong troubleshooting skills.
Physically capable and reliable, with initiative and good organization.
Willingness to travel to project locations and work in remote sites and shop environments.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, and repair a broad inventory of heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, rock trucks, cranes, skid steers, telehandlers, forklifts).
Perform maintenance on highway trucks and trailers (brakes, suspension, powertrains, emissions).
Maintain hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems and perform welding/fabrication as needed.
Troubleshoot issues and provide on-site solutions to minimize downtime and support field operations.
Coordinate repair schedules with Service Department Supervisor and site leadership; maintain communication.
Maintain service records, time sheets, parts usage, and requests; work independently in remote field environments and in shop.
