GFL Environmental in Victoria, BC is seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our Team Green. The role requires a Red Seal/Certified Mechanic and involves rebuilding, repairing and maintaining our fleet to keep communities safe and clean.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical diploma desired.
• 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment required to perform job.
• Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting up to 100 lbs.

Responsabilités

• Keep trucks and motorized equipment running through rebuilding, repair and maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose issues on fleet equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with team to ensure safe, efficient operations.

What’s required:

Mechanics must have:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
• 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
• Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
• Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
• Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
• Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
• Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
