Job summary

GFL Environmental Services in St. John’s, Newfoundland is seeking a skilled Mechanic. You will safely operate, repair and maintain our diverse fleet at the Logy Bay Road branch, under supervision of the shop foreman.

This role requires diagnostic and repair prowess across engines, hydraulics, and equipment. Qualifications include a Truck and Transport Red Seal (or nearing completion) and a valid driver’s license. Lifting up to 50 lbs and teamwork in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have Truck and Transport Red Seal certification or be nearing completion of Red Seal requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet including Hydro-vacs, dry vacs, tankers, vac trucks, roll-offs, box trucks and trailers.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, disassemble, inspect and replace worn parts.
• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, electrical and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, cooling systems, brakes, suspensions, lights.
• Diagnose and repair steering, suspension, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; manage engine support systems.
• Provide local repair and road call (emergency response).
• Write service reports and record analysis.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Must have Truck and Transport Red Seal certification, or be nearing completion of Red Seal requirements
