Job summary

The City of St. John's is seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Journeyperson/Apprentice) for the Fleet Services Division. The role focuses on repairing heavy trucks and equipment power systems, diagnosing hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic issues, and following safety protocols.

Interviews will be ongoing; positions are available immediately. Applicants must be Journeyperson certified or enrolled as an apprentice, bring own tools, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation.
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck/Transport Mechanic; in good standing or apprentice status.
• Foreign credential considered with ECA & language testing as required for Atlantic Immigration Program.
• At least five years' experience repairing automobiles and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work safely around equipment and recognize hazards; proper tool handling.
• Must possess own tools and toolbox for Journeyperson/Apprentice duties.
• Must have valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Repair heavy trucks and light trucks; diagnose hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Work with diagnostic equipment and schematics to identify issues.
• Participate in training programs and safety initiatives.
