Job summary

Technica Mining in Timmins, ON seeks a self-motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to support our maintenance team on a long-term local development project in Sudbury, Ontario. The role involves diagnosing mechanical failures, performing inspections, and ensuring equipment meets manufacturer specs.

You will document service logs, order parts, and follow health and safety standards while collaborating with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years underground experience preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Familiarity with CAT, Epiroc, and/or MacLean equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical failures of motorized equipment.
  • Performing daily equipment inspections.
  • Testing repaired equipment for proper performance to meet manufacturers' specifications.
  • Maintaining accurate service logs and documentation.
  • Ordering parts as required to complete repairs.
  • Following daily line-ups and executing scheduled work per health & safety standards.

Job description

About the Role

Currently, Technica is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our growing team as a Heavy Duty Mechanic in Timmins, ON. This position will assist our maintenance team in their efforts to maintain and progress our long‑term, local development project in Sudbury, Ontario. We are actively seeking to fill these positions to support the continued success of our operations.

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical failures of motorized equipment
  • Performing daily equipment inspections
  • Testing repaired equipment for proper performance to ensure work meets manufacturer's specifications
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date service logs and documentation
  • Ordering parts as required to complete repairs
  • Following daily line-ups and executing scheduled work in accordance with health and safety standards as well as manufacturer's specifications
Qualifications:
  • 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician – Journeyperson Candidate; or
  • Licensed 310T Truck and Coach Technician; or Licensed 310S Automotive Service Technician
  • Basic Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (U0000, U0001, U0002, & U00012) or equivalent provincial designation is preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) underground experience is preferred
  • Strong diagnostic skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Strong technical aptitude with digital platforms used for work orders, email, etc.
  • High level of self-motivation and autonomy
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
  • Familiarity with CAT, Epiroc, and/or MacLean equipment is preferred
Schedule:
  • Five (5)- Five (5)- Four (4) schedule
  • Twelve (12) hour shifts
