Job description

General Description

A heavy duty cleaner is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities could be included.

Schedule

Part Time, Week Days 3 Hour Shifts

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces (inside buildings).
• Stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets and cleaning windows – on request only.
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partition, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior – wash/spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily. Standard bathroom procedures include damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, and sweeping/mopping/scrubbing floors.
• Assist the supervisor with any other assistance that requires help from the employee.
• Monitor possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and report to supervisors.
• There will be showers; employees will have to go between the two buildings (they are across the street from each other).
• Collect building trash daily, placing it in the approved container and in the designated collection area for subsequent removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specifications.
• High dusting, wall washing.
• Operate compactors, lift up to 50 lbs, use heavy duty machines, and change garbage.
