Job summary

GDI Services (Canada) LP is seeking a part-time janitor to clean floors, carpets, washrooms, and common areas across two buildings in Toronto. The role involves trash collection, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance needs.

Shifts are 11:00 am–7:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Candidates must have transportation, be detail‑oriented, and pass a background check. Training and accommodations available as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Must have own transportation.
• Attention to detail and energy to perform cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Strip, wax, steam clean carpets and windows – on request only.
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior; spot-clean interior walls daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock supplies; damp wipe glass surfaces and dust sills daily.
• Assist supervisor with other tasks as needed.
• Monitor defects (clogged urinals, lights) and report to supervisors.
• Move between two buildings across the street for showers.
• Collect and dispose of building trash daily; replace liners.
• Perform high dusting and wall washing.
• Operate heavy-duty machines and lift up to 50 lbs.

General Description

A janitor is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities may be included.

Schedule

Part Time – 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Strip, wax, steam clean carpets and windows – on request only.
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior; spot‑clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily; damp wipe glass surfaces, empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, dust sills, clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweep/mop/scrub floors, etc.
• Assist the supervisor with any other tasks that require help from the employee.
• Monitor possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and report to supervisors.
• There will be showers; employees will need to move between the two buildings (across the street from each other).
• Collect building trash daily, placing it in approved containers and the designated collection area for removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers as specified.
• Perform high dusting and wall washing.
• Operate compactors, lift up to 50 lbs, use heavy‑duty machines, and change garbage.
