Job summary

A leading facility maintenance provider in Toronto, Ontario, is looking for a janitor. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning duties such as mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, and collecting trash, while demonstrating attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team. Candidates must have their own transportation and the ability to pass a Criminal Background Check. This position requires endurance and a pride in delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
• Must have own transportation.
• Must have own transportation to perform site visits.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment and operate cleaning machines.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs, and other surfaces.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily.
• Collect building trash daily and place it in approved containers.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors; interior/exterior washing and spot cleaning of walls daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily with proper procedures.
• Assist the supervisor with other tasks as needed.
• Monitor for defects such as clogged urinals and lights out and report to supervisors.
• Shower facilities require movement between two buildings across the street.
• Collect building trash daily and place in designated container for removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs.
• Perform high dusting, wall washing; lift up to 50 lbs and operate heavy duty machines.

General Description

A janitor is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities could be included.

Schedule Hours

7:00am to 3:00 pm Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces (inside buildings).
• Stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets and cleaning windows – on request only
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partition, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior- Wash/spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily. Standard bathroom procedures are to damp wipe glass surfaces, empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, dust sills, clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweep/mop/scrub floors, etc.
• Assist the supervisor with any other assistance that requires help from the employee.
• Monitors possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and reports to supervisors.
• There will be showers, they will have to go between the two buildings (they are across the street from each other).
• Collect building trash daily placing it in approved container and place in designated collection area for subsequent removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs.
• High dusting, wall washing compactors, lifting up to 50lbs, using heavy duty machines, changing garbage.

Requirements

• Must be able to take direction, to work with minimal supervision, and to function cooperatively as part of a team
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Must have own transportation
• Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
