Job summary

The Salvation Army seeks a Maintenance Worker II to provide engineering and maintenance duties at Agapé Hospice. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to maintain boilers, pumps, controls and safety systems while ensuring compliance with codes and policies.

You will manage repairs, supervise activities, operate the building management system, and support security and safety programs on weekends and holidays as needed. A strong trades background and WHMIS are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Building Operator A or B and/or 5th Class Power Engineering program required.
• Additional trade such as Plumber, Electrician, Carpenter an asset.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must have a vehicle, valid driver’s license and insurance and current WHMIS certification.
• 3–5 years experience in operation and maintenance of a commercial or health care facility preferred.
• Must have experience in Building Maintenance System programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and perform skilled maintenance/repairs of plant machinery and systems.
• Perform building architectural systems maintenance and renovations duties.
• Coordinate and supervising repair activities.
• Operate building management system and record readings.
• Year-round grounds keeping and maintain building appearance.
• Assist contractors with installation and repair of certified equipment.
• Maintain files on equipment; requisition supplies.
• Act as the building Fire Marshall on shifts; arrange fire drills and safety reports.
• Provide security support on weekends and statutory holidays.
• Logs and records of work; participate in orientation and timesheets.
