Job summary

Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant on a temporary, part-time basis at our Kingston Site. The role supports patient care spaces, staff work areas, and public zones to stay clean, safe and welcoming.

You will work under the Environmental Services Manager to uphold patient- and family-centred care and contribute to a positive hospital experience for all.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Proven ability to attend work regularly and reliably.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect patient care, staff, and public areas.
• Maintain floors, stairwells, elevators, carpets, and hard surfaces using specialized cleaning methods and equipment.
• Clean patient rooms, bathrooms, nursing stations, lounges, storage areas, and other inpatient spaces.
• Handle and transport linens, including distributing clean linens and collecting soiled linens.
• Safely transfer and dispose of various waste streams, including biomedical, chemical, confidential, and sharps waste.
• Restock patient and staff supplies and support inventory maintenance.
• Participate in evaluating new products, equipment, and procedures.
• Launder and inspect specialized healthcare items, including lift slings, transport accessories, curtains, and other hospital materials.
• Assist with furniture and equipment moves and support meeting and event setup requirements.
• Respond promptly and professionally to operational needs across the hospital.
