Job summary

Providence Care Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Attendant (ESA) to support a clean, safe, and attractive environment for staff, clients, and visitors in Kingston, Ontario. This temporary part-time position requires attention to hospital cleaning standards and teamwork in the Environmental Services Department.

The role involves waste disposal, linen handling, floor care, and operating cleaning equipment, with a wage of $28.21–$29.12 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or grade 12 equivalency).
• Basic knowledge of industrial/commercial cleaning procedures and understanding of hospital environment and cleaning standards.
• Minimum six months of recent related cleaning experience; healthcare preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).

Responsibilities

• General duties: waste collection/disposal; linen distribution; operation of heavy-duty cleaning equipment.
• Daily duties: damp-dusting, spot cleaning of walls/windows, mopping floors, vacuuming, waste removal, washroom cleaning, isolation room cleaning.
• Thorough cleaning routines: high-dusting, floor cleaning, baseboard cleaning, isolation room discharge cleaning.
• Other duties: stripping/refinishing floors, washing walls/ceilings; changing curtains; replacing bulbs; moving equipment; snow removal; community cleaning; hospital vehicle operation; mechanical lifts operation.
• Identifies needs to replenish supplies and communicates concerns to Service Manager.
• Maintains records of project work and reports at shift end.
• Participates in quality cleaning audits to meet standards.
