The role blends field-based training with client-facing consulting, delivering real impact on-site, in classrooms, and through long-term partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience delivering adult education or safety training.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act and regs.
  • Experience in safety consulting activities such as audits or program development.
  • Excellent facilitation and client-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, outcomes-focused health and safety training across topics.
  • Conduct safety gap audits, hazard assessments, and program reviews for clients.
  • Provide practical recommendations to support compliance and improvement.
  • Travel to client sites and support in-office or virtual projects as needed.

About The Role

The Health & Safety Trainer & Consultant is a hands-on, client-facing role that blends engaging safety training with practical consulting support. You will work directly with workers, supervisors, and leadership teams to strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and improve workplace safety culture.

This is an individual contributor role for a seasoned safety professional who thrives in the field, enjoys building client relationships, and takes pride in delivering high-impact training and actionable solutions. You will see the results of your work firsthand - on job sites, in classrooms, and through long-term client partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
  • Deliver engaging, interactive, and outcomes-focused health and safety training programs across a variety of topics
  • Adapt training content to meet client-specific needs while ensuring alignment with Ontario OH&S legislation and industry best practices
  • Create an inclusive, respectful learning environment that encourages participation and real-world application
  • Stay current on changes to legislation, standards, and emerging safety trends
  • Support the onboarding and mentoring of junior trainers as needed (non-supervisory)
Consulting and Client Support
  • Conduct safety gap audits, hazard assessments, and program reviews for client organizations
  • Provide clear, practical recommendations to support legislative compliance and continuous improvement
  • Partner with client leadership to identify risks, close gaps, and strengthen safety culture
  • Assist clients with the development and improvement of safety policies, procedures, and programs
  • Act as a trusted advisor, representing SafetyCo with professionalism and integrity
Operational & Business Support
  • Deliver training and consulting services on time and to a high-quality standard
  • Identify additional training or consulting opportunities based on client needs and refer appropriately
  • Maintain accurate documentation for training sessions, certifications, and consulting activities
  • Travel to client sites as required and support in-office or virtual projects when needed
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience delivering adult education or safety training
  • Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and associated regulations
  • Experience with safety consulting activities such as audits, hazard assessments, or program development
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and client-facing communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Valid provincial driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and smartphone with data
Assets (Nice To Have)
  • Certifications such as Working at Heights, MEWP, Forklift, Confined Space
  • Background in occupational health & safety management or consulting
