Job summary

ICBC in North Vancouver, BC, invites applications for a Health & Safety Specialist. You will provide technical guidance on workplace safety, injury prevention, first aid, and emergency preparedness programs while supporting compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

The role is a permanent, full-time position located at ICBC Head Office with potential relocation within the Metro Vancouver area.

Qualifications

  • A related post-secondary degree and a certificate or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Several years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, standards, and WorkSafe BC requirements.
  • Experience with workplace inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety programs.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within British Columbia.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification or current equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Develop and maintain safety, injury prevention, first aid, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Support safety committees and coordinate workplace safety initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, procedures, manuals, and supporting materials.
  • Work with WorkSafeBC and internal partners to address safety concerns and ensure compliance.
  • Support emergency planning, response coordination, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Position Highlights

ICBC has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Health & Safety Specialist. This position is currently located at ICBC’s Head Office in North Vancouver; however, it may move to another location in the Metro Vancouver area in the near future.
