This contractor acts as both lead mechanical and prime lead contactor on many of their projects. They utilize the latest technology and techniques within a strong safety culture.

Qualifications:

1. 8-12+ years of experience in the health and safety field, preferably in a subcontracting environment.
2. Experience and/or familiarity with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act; exposure to WSIB and/or COR is preferred.
3. Proven track record of working hands-on with employees.
4. Strong oral and written communication skills, with knowledge of standards, regulations, protocols, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain current knowledge of all safety policies and procedures.
2. Assist in revising and updating safety policies as required by regulatory changes, business needs, or new workplace hazards.
3. Ensure management and supervisory staff comply with the HS program.
4. Organize and communicate scheduled safety meetings.
5. Identify and address known safety issues with the team.
6. Assist in reporting H&S incidents and statistics to senior management during monthly meetings.
7. Contribute to the training, development, and delivery of H&S training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
8. Ensure all employees complete required training.
9. Train employees on workplace hazards.
10. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the H&S program.
11. Promote safe work practices among employees.
12. Provide technical advice and guidance on H&S issues.
