Job summary

EllisDon Corporation is seeking an Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator to oversee safety across Canada construction projects. You will run orientations, site inspections, incident investigations and safety trainings (WHMIS, Working At Heights, CPR/First Aid).

Weekly safety audits and health-safety statistics will be compiled to ensure OHSA compliance. The role requires 3–5 years of safety construction experience, ability to influence safety culture, and progress toward or

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of safety construction experience.
• Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
• Working toward or are certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with construction site experience.
• Holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate.
• Completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for site specific safety including orientations, inspections and submittals.
• Conduct / lead accident investigations when necessary.
• Identify hazards and direct rectification measures.
• Monitor site personnel for safety compliance and escalate issues.
• Organize and conduct training programs (WHMIS, Working At Heights, PPE, CPR/First Aid).
• Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
• Compile safety statistics on weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
• Regulate work site activity per Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees.

You as a Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator will:

• Be responsible for site specific safety including facilitating orientations, site inspections, review and filing of subcontractor’s pre-construction and weekly safety submittals and conducting / leading accident investigations when necessary.
• Identify potential hazards and directing rectification measures.
• Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and escalating issues to resolution.
• Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Working At Heights, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid.
• Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
• Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly project health and safety statistics .
• Regulate work site activity in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees.
• Proactively identifying and preventing hazardous situations and taking necessary measures to rectify.
• Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.

Is this the right role for you?

• You have a minimum of 3-5 years’ of safety construction experience
• You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
• You are working towards or are already certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site.
• You are a holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate.
• You have completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.
