Job summary

EllisDon Construction Services Inc. in Alberta is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator to lead site safety programs across projects.

You will run orientations, site inspections, review subcontractor safety submittals, and drive incident investigations. You will organize training (WHMIS, Working At Heights, PPE, CPR/First Aid), coordinate safety audits, compile safety statistics, ensure OHSA compliance, support JHSC activities, and promote a best-in-class safety culture

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of safety construction experience.
• Certified under or pursuing OH&S Act/Regulations with site experience.
• Holder of or pursuing NCSO certificate.
• Experience with COR Certification would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate site orientations and conduct inspections.
• Review subcontractor safety submittals and lead accident investigations.

You as a Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator will: Be responsible for site specific safety including facilitating orientations, site inspections, review and filing of subcontractor’s pre-construction and weekly safety submittals and conducting / leading accident investigations when necessary. Identify potential hazards and directing rectification measures. Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and elevate issues to resolution. Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Working At Heights, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid. Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries. Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly project health and safety statistics . Regulate work site activity in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees. Proactively identifying and preventing hazardous situations and taking necessary measures to rectify. Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.

Is this the right role for you? You have a minimum of 3-5 years’ of safety construction experience You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations. You are working towards or are already certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site. You are a holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate. You have completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.
