Are you passionate about creating safe, compliant, and proactive workplaces? Do you thrive in both office and on-site environments, where every day brings new challenges? We’re looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to take the lead in supporting a strong safety culture across all our operations.

As our go-to safety expert, you’ll work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and company leadership to drive our Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) performance. You’ll oversee safety policies, training, compliance, and day-to-day health and safety needs—ensuring every site and worker is protected.

Benefits of Employment – Why Work at Momentum?

  • Locally owned, full-service design + build firm
  • Career development support (apprenticeship, training, certifications)
  • Long-term, full-time employment — we’re building for the future
  • 100% employer-paid health & dental benefits after 3 months
  • TELUS Health Virtual Care + Employee & Family Assistance Program
  • A collaborative culture that values your voice and ideas
  • Community-minded with corporate support for volunteering

Compensation

  • $30 to $36 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and continually improve the company’s HSE program, including COR certification compliance.
  • Lead new worker orientations and coordinate safety training programs (WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Protection, etc.).
  • Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring full compliance with WorkSafeBC and internal documentation standards.
  • Champion JOHSC initiatives: organize meetings, track minutes, and maintain committee records.
  • Develop and implement customized site-specific safety plans.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics, including Total Recordable Incident Frequency (TRIF).
  • Keep all safety records up to date: SDS, incident reports, training logs, and more.
  • Ensure safety signage, emergency equipment, and first aid systems are current and functional.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all health and safety concerns across the company.
  • Support our return-to-work program and liaise with WorkSafeBC as needed.
  • Stay current on evolving legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide occasional admin support to Superintendents and Project Managers.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education is a plus.
  • Occupational Health & Safety certification (or willingness to obtain it).
  • 2–4 years of experience in a similar safety-focused role.
  • Solid knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and COR standards.
  • Advanced First Aid certification and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is an asset.
  • Experience with digital safety platforms like SiteDocs or SafetySync is a big plus.
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential matters.
