Job summary

TOPPAN Packaging Americas is seeking a Safety Coordinator to lead safety training, support health and safety programs, and ensure compliance with provincial and federal laws at the Mississauga facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will develop and deliver training materials and track audit findings.

The role requires at least 5 years of safety experience, a Health and Safety certification, First Aid training, and strong communication and time-management skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related safety experience.
• Health and Safety certificate/degree required.
• Knowledge of local, provincial and federal safety laws.
• First Aid and Responder training preferred.
• Strong time-management and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Visit us at packaging.toppan.comSummary Description:While reporting to the Plant Manager, you will coordinate and schedule safety training and provide materials to support the operation; report safety training and audit results to the manager and applicable regulatory gaps identified as part of the audit process. You are responsible for ensuring that the plant is in compliance with all local, provincial and Federal safety legislation and requirements.Our key focus is SAFETY, by creating a zero-injury environment. If you are a role model for Safety and have a strong commitment to safety, this role might be right for you.What you’ll be doing:Provide safety support, presence and guidance of the overall safety philosophy; evaluate and enforce site Health and Safety Programs and ensure compliance with applicable provincial and federal laws, as well as company policies and procedures.Participate in the Plant Safety Strategic Plan development.Continually train, educate and refresh all facility employees on safe work practices, policies, procedures, standards and reporting related to safety, environmental and health.Fully support safety initiatives by direct interface with Leadership, to address safety concerns.Conduct regularly scheduled safety audits.Manage, coordinate and monitor all sub-pillar safety activities as part of TOPPAN Performance System (GPS).Coordinate safety meeting schedules, agendas, materials and activities; responsible for updates to track action items generated from safety meetings and audits.Assist and prepare presentations as well as documents required for the Division’s health and safety meetings.Lead post-incident investigations and provide recommendations for sustainable corrective actions; responsible for reviewing all Close Calls and Incident Reports from Incident Report Database and discusses incidents with teammates and employees.Review and create Job Safety Analysis (JSA), One Point Lessons (OPL), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI).Demonstrate knowledge of environmental requirements as they relate to our business; maintain accurate records in compliance with TOPPAN and Ministry of Environment/Environment Canada policies.This is an ONSITE position located out of our Mississauga, ON Canada FacilityWe’d love to hear from you if:Have a minimum of 5 years related working experience.Hold a certificate/degree or diploma in a Health and Safety discipline (or any other related field).Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.Is trained as a First Aid and Responder.Have highly developed time-management skills.Have effective meeting, presentation and facilitator skills.Proficient with Microsoft products including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.At TOPPAN Packaging Americas, we offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to support our employees’ overall wellbeing.
