Job summary

The Process Technician II at TOPPAN Packaging Canada Corporation in Mississauga plays a critical role in supporting production across Printing, Lamination, and Slitting. Responsibilities

Position: Process Technician II Location: Mississauga, ON Hours: 40 hours per week Pay Rate: Hiring Rate: $25.73 CAD/hour Step 1: $27.59 CAD/hour Step 2: $32.36 CAD/hour Step 3: $36.57 CAD/hour

Summary Description

The Process Technician II supports high-quality, efficient, and timely production by monitoring manufacturing processes, analyzing waste, coordinating production trials, and identifying opportunities to improve performance across the facility. Working closely with Process Engineering and cross-functional partners, this position supports the three primary production departments—Printing, Lamination, and Slitting—and plays an important role in trial execution, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, quality verification, and continuous improvement. The Process Technician II will be expected to learn and develop proficiency across multiple departments while helping improve productivity, quality, and process performance.

What You’ll Be Doing
Process Improvement & Waste Reduction
  • Analyze waste generated across manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Identify recurring waste trends across products and machines.
  • Investigate opportunities to reduce waste and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Develop recommendations for waste-reduction initiatives.
  • Track the effectiveness of implemented improvements through KPI and trend analysis.
  • Monitor process performance and use production data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Trial Management & Production Support
  • Work closely with the Process Engineer to plan and execute manufacturing trials.
  • Provide hands-on support to Production teams during trial runs.
  • Coordinate with Production, Graphics, and Scheduling to support efficient trial execution.
  • Monitor trial process performance across Printing, Lamination, and Slitting.
  • Track, analyze, and document trial performance and results.
  • Identify process issues that occur during trials and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Adjust process parameters as needed and document process changes made throughout the trial.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to determine whether produced materials meet applicable requirements.
  • Perform necessary pre-press quality checks.
  • Complete formal trial reports documenting tooling, processes, adjustments, and results.
  • Participate in post-trial reviews with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D.
  • Communicate trial results, improvement opportunities, and potential productivity impacts to cross-functional teams.
Technical & Cross-Functional Support
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues and help identify appropriate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance regarding equipment or process-related work orders.
  • Communicate with vendors and Maintenance regarding supplies and materials needed to support operations.
  • Help ensure process changes, trial results, and technical findings are accurately documented.
  • Coordinate projects and activities involving multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to productivity, waste, quality, and overall process performance.
  • Develop knowledge and proficiency across multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Perform additional technical and process-related responsibilities as assigned.

  • You are comfortable performing repetitive duties and standing for extended periods.
  • You can safely lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • You are interested in developing your technical knowledge across Printing, Lamination, Slitting, and other manufacturing processes.
