Position Overview
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator will ensure compliance with WITRON’s health and safety policies, local, provincial, and federal regulations. The role involves both office and field work, working independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure compliance with safety, industrial hygiene, workplace, and fire safety regulations
- Collaborate with the National Health and Safety team to develop and maintain safety policies
- Organize and track health and safety training sessions
- Conduct routine workplace inspections and implement corrective measures
- Correct unsafe practices and monitor policy adherence
- Lead accident investigations and train leaders on the process
- Develop and update documentation for safety management systems
- Maintain safety equipment and organize emergency drills
- Coordinate with external agencies as needed
- Chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Support the safe return-to-work program
- Manage Safety Data Sheets and communicate updates
- Conduct weekly safety talks
- Investigate safety concerns raised by employees
- Order safety supplies and equipment
- Identify safety training and system needs with the Site Manager
- Follow up on audit recommendations
- Develop safe work procedures for high-risk activities
- Analyze and report safety KPIs
- Participate actively in safety programs and maintain a safe work environment
- Perform other related duties
Qualifications :
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, or similar, with at least two years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations
- Attention to detail and confidentiality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to promote safety culture and behavior change
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification, Part I and II
- Familiarity with OHSA regulations, Machine Guarding, and Working at Heights
- Current First Aid & CPR certification and emergency response experience
