Job summary

Magna Exteriors is seeking a Health & Safety professional to coordinate environmental and ergonomic safety programs within a manufacturing setting. You will lead investigations, conduct inspections, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with HR and the Joint Health & Safety Committee.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in H&S, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office and safety software; certification in Joint Health & Safety and First Aid/CPR is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma required; college/university designation in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
  • Joint Health and Safety Certified member; First Aid and CPR certification highly regarded.
  • Experience with health & safety programs in manufacturing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate environmental, ergonomic and health & safety programs to improve employee quality of life.
  • Coordinate accident/incident investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Conduct monthly workplace inspections and ensure legal compliance.
  • Serve as a resource to the Joint Health & Safety Committee and present recommendations.
  • Lead ergonomic program; track and log safety trainings; ensure renewals on time (WHMIS, Lock Out, TDG).
  • Assist with and coordinate division wellness and WSIB processes; maintain safety documentation.

prepare, post, circulate minutesRespond to plant safety concerns and provides counseling for hazard recognitionWork collaboratively with HR team to support business needs on various H&S, environmental and ergonomic mattersEnsure H&S Communication boards and electronic outlets are kept up-to-date and relevantParticipate in new employee orientation – presenting H&S sectionPrepare and present H&S slides in monthly Employee MeetingsUpdate H&S, environmental and ergonomic procedures, instructions and forms; ensure control and availability for use, in a timely mannerPerform review of H&S documentation (policies, WINs, forms) at prescribed intervalsFacilitate the Ergonomic ProgramArrange, track and log internal and external Occupational H&S training for employees, ensuring renewals are attained on-time (i.e. WHMIS, Lock Out, TDG, etc.)Conduct with various H&S, environmental and ergonomic audits/inspections and make recommendations for improvementsLiaise with Corporate H&S personnel providing divisional data and updates, as neededEnsure all Corporate and Legislative audits, submissions and updates are issued on-time and accuratelyLiaise with other departments (e.g. Maintenance) to ensure safety compliance on new equipmentMaintain First Aid and PPE inventory; order/distribute supplies as neededLead the division’s Heat Stress process (calculate and post shop Humidex Readings; order and stock for heat stress relief, etc.)Manage the on-site contractor safety process and ensure requirements are up to date;
