PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the HSE team and HSE performance at site;
  • Coordinates fulfillment of HSE requirements at construction site, following health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan in compliance with Company standards, customer requirements, and Government regulations;
  • Supports Site Manager for HSE management and safety instructions implementation for our workers and partners;
  • Establishes and maintains customer relationships regarding HSE topics;
  • Prepares weekly and monthly HSE reports;
  • Provides assistance in the implementation and update of the health, safety, and environmental plan;
  • Assists in identification of risks and definition of control measures (through safe work procedures, Job Safety Analysis);
  • Conducts and records regular safety checks and inspections;
  • Provides assistance in Tool-box talks;
  • Coordinates safety committee activities;
  • Records and investigates accidents and incidents; performs Root Cause Analysis on HSE issues;
  • Coordinates health, safety, and environmental aspects of site activities;
  • Provides site-specific health, safety, and environmental training;
  • Coordinates required safety training on site;
  • Manages First Aid rescue, First Aid responders, and Fire Protection programs;
  • Proposes immediate correction of HSE deficiencies and verifies effectiveness of corrections;
  • Ensures OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and COR programs are maintained at site;
  • Provides HSE technical support to other HSE Site Officers;
  • Supports execution of internal audits in construction sites and facilities, and coordinates external audits;
  • Coordinates with Workers Compensation in each province;
  • Collaborates with HSE Advisor for business updates on HSE Management System.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • At least 5 years of experience in HSE management on a construction site;
  • Certification CNESST “Agent de sécurité sur les chantiers de construction”;
  • Member of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP);
  • Knowledge of Canadian Construction Safety legislation;
  • Experience working on construction sites (Hydro power plant experience is an asset);
  • Must be fluent in French;
  • Fluency in English and/or other languages is an asset;
  • Strong communication skills (spoken & written) at all organizational levels;
  • Auditor and Trainer skills;
  • Proven leadership within a team;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, root cause analysis expertise, sound judgment, initiative, and creativity;
  • Willingness to travel and flexibility with work schedule.

*Legal status to work in Canada is required.
