Job summary

BARRIE AREA NATIVE ADVISORY CIRCLE seeks a Health Information Specialist to lead the configuration and integrity of BANAC's EMR and health data systems. You will optimize data capture, reporting, and analytics to support community-based care and decision-making.

The role emphasizes Indigenous governance, data privacy, and collaboration with healthcare partners, requiring 3–5 years in health informatics or data roles and experience with TELUS PS Suite and BI tools.

Qualifications

• Degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field
• 3–5 years’ experience in a healthcare or data-focused role, including EMR systems and report development
• Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems; Telus PS Suite is an asset
• Experience with SQL-based query development and reporting tools (LogiReports, BIRT)
• Experience with digital health tools (Ocean platform, eReferral, AI Scribe)
• Strong proficiency with Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, and Office 365
• Understanding of healthcare data privacy and governance (PHIPA, FIPPA)
• Ability to present data clearly to diverse audiences
• Experience in Indigenous health or community-based settings is a strong asset

Responsibilities

• Maintain and configure BANAC EMR and data infrastructure
• Develop data quality controls, dashboards, and reports for internal/external stakeholders
• Provide data extraction and analytics support to leadership and operations
• Ensure data privacy, governance, and compliance across systems
• Assist with data auditing, reporting, and funding proposals as directed
• Support data infrastructure maintenance and stakeholder reporting
