Job summary

Government of Yukon’s Continuing Care division is posting this opportunity to fill 1 permanent part-time position with Alexander McDonald Lodge in Dawson City, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly. This posting will also establish a 12-month eligibility list for future similar vacancies.

Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML) is a 15-bed long-term care home delivering person-centered care, with emphasis on dignity, privacy and respect for residents.

Qualifications

• Recent experience caring for people, preferably chronically ill or elderly.
• Experience in long-term care or providing personal care.
• Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities for residents.
• Provide light meal preparation as needed.

Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML) in Dawson City, YT is a 15-bed long-term care home that provides person-centered care to individuals who need varying levels of intermediate care support with daily living activities. Through responsiveness to each resident’s uniqueness, the Lodge creates a feeling of home and belonging for all who live there.

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and mature individuals who are committed to supporting the wellbeing and safety of our residents. In this role, you will be comfortable assisting with a variety of daily living activities, including light meal preparation. Essential Qualifications

• Recent experience in caring for people, preferably caring for chronically ill or elderly clients
• Recent experience working in long term care OR experience providing personal care
• Experience working with various cultural backgrounds

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

TB screening, RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check, CPR Level C with AED (within last 2.5 years), WHMIS 2015, and Food Safe Level1 (completed within the last 2 years)
