Government of Yukon is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide leadership and supervision for Nursing Home Attendants at Whistle Bend Place in Whitehorse. The role supports the Continuing Care philosophy and ensures high‑quality resident care during shifts, in collaboration with the care team.
The position is a one‑year term, full‑time, with opportunities for anticipatory term and permanent roles in Continuing Care at Copper Ridge Place, Thomson Centre, and Whistle Bend
This competition isfor a (1) year term working 75 hours bi-weekly in Whistle Bend Place until September 1, 2027. It will also be used for anticipatory term and permanent full time positions inContinuing Care (Copper Ridge Place, Thomson Centre, & Whistle Bend Place).

We are looking for organized, self-motivated individuals with supervisory experience who are comfortable working independently and building strong working relationships. In this role, you will provide leadership and support to Nursing Home Attendants during your shift while upholding the standards and philosophy of Continuing Care. The position plays a key role in fostering a safe, respectful, and high-quality environment that enhances the well‑being and quality of life of residents and clients.
This role requires flexibility, sound judgment, and strong problem‑solving skills. You will work collaboratively with residents, families, and the care team to support individual needs while contributing to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of quality resident care.
As an integral member of the nursing team, you will provide nursing services within the scope of practice of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), supporting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well‑being of residents. You will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans, while working closely with the interdisciplinary team and referring residents for advanced assessment by an RN or NP when required.

TB Screening, RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check, CPR-C with AED, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Class 5 Driver’s License, Current Yukon LPN certification.
Exposure to animals, second hand smoke and latex products in the facilities, shift work, and a high level of heavy lifting (over 50 lb).
