Job summary

Excel Society in Edmonton, Canada, is seeking a part-time Health Care Aide to follow care plans, prepare meals, assist with medications via Catalyst, and perform household tasks. The role includes documenting client information, supporting hygiene, and providing emotional support to clients in a home-care setting.

You'll work Sundays from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm (24 hours biweekly) and liaise with families and health professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• HCA certificate required as evidenced by enrolment in CLHA Directory.
• Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C.
• Satisfactory current criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Follow client care plans and deliver high-quality client care.
• Prepare meals and snacks according to meal plan.
• Assist with medications using Catalyst system and Excel policies and procedures.
• Perform housekeeping and outdoor maintenance (snow shovelling, lawn care).
• Maintain documentation such as scorecards and medical records.
• Support clients with hygiene and personal care.
• Provide emotional support and use de-escalation techniques.
• Assist clients with appointments, activities, or programs.
• Monitor client wellbeing and report concerns to supervisor; accompany to appointments as needed.
• Liaise with families, guardians and other professionals; relay client information to team.

Hours of Work : Sundays .11a-11p (24 hrs, biweekly) HCA (CR18)

The Job Responsibilities are as follows:

• Following client care plan and delivering high quality client care.
• Preparing meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan.
• Using Catalyst system while providing assistance with medications to clients on time according to Excel Policies and procedures and checking/receiving medication that arrive while on shift.
• Performing general household duties and maintenance such cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry; and also outside maintenance such as shovelling snow, cutting grass, and gardening.
• Maintaining/updating all required documentation such as scorecards, medical records, etc.
• Assisting clients with hygiene and personal care.
• Providing emotional support to clients and using de‑scalation techniques to support clients.
• Supporting and assisting clients in maintaining appointments, activities, or programs.
• Monitoring client wellbeing, physical and mental condition closely and reporting concerns to supervisor. Accompanying clients to appointments as necessary.
• Liaising with families, guardians, professionals and other resource members of the client(s)’ support network, communicating relevant client information to other team members.

Requirements:

• HCA certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta health Services as evidenced through enrolment in the CLHA Directory is mandate.
• Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C.
• Satisfactory current criminal record check.
