Job summary

Excel Society is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) in Edmonton, Canada. The role involves following client care plans, preparing meals, assisting clients with personal care, and performing household duties.

Responsibilities

• Follow client care plan and deliver high quality client care.
• Prepare meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan.
• Use Catalyst system to assist with medications.
• Perform general household and outdoor maintenance.
• Update required documentation such as scorecards and medical records.
• Assist clients with hygiene and personal care.
• Provide emotional support and use de-escalation techniques.
• Support clients in maintaining appointments and programs.
• Monitor client wellbeing and report concerns to supervisor.
• Liaise with families and other support network members.

Hours of Work :Sats. 7a-3:15p (15.5 hrs. biweekly) HCA (CR66)

Job Responsibilities

• Following client care plan and delivering high quality client care.
• Preparing meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan.
• Using Catalyst system while providing assistance with medications to clients on time according to Excel Policies and procedures and checking/receiving medication that arrive while on shift.
• Performing general household duties and maintenance such cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry; and also outside maintenance such as shovelling snow, cutting grass, and gardening.
• Maintaining/updating all required documentation such as scorecards, medical records, etc.
• Assisting clients with hygiene and personal care.
• Providing emotional support to clients and using de-escalation techniques to support clients.
• Supporting and assisting clients in maintaining appointments, activities, or programs.
• Monitoring client wellbeing, physical and mental condition closely and reporting concerns to supervisor. Accompanying clients to appointments as necessary.
• Liaising with families, guardians, professionals and other resource members of the client(s)’ support network, communicating relevant client information to other team members.

Requirements

• HCA certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta health Services as evidenced through enrolment in the CLHA Directory is mandate.
• Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C.
• Satisfactory current criminal record check.
