AgeCare Walden Heights in Calgary is hiring Health Care Aides (HCA) to join a dedicated care team. The role involves assisting with daily resident care, including bathing, transfers with lifts, feeding, and basic treatments under supervision of a licensed nurse.

You will help residents move around the facility and participate in activities and therapies. Candidates should have a PCA/HCA certificate, CLHA registration, and at least one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA certificate course or equivalent.
• Active registration with CLHA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower and wash residents per NCP and water temperature controls.
• Assist with transfers using ceiling/mechanical lifts and transfer belt.
• Feed residents during meals and assist with nourishment.
• Provide routine treatments and basic care under supervision of staff nurse.
• Assist residents to travel around the facility and to dining rooms.
• Support residents to social and therapy activities within the facility.
• Maintain infection control and safety procedures at all times.

Work Location: AgeCare Walden HeightsAddress: 250 Walden Drive SE, Calgary, ABFTE: Fulltime (1.00)Employment Type: TemporaryThe OpportunityAs a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care. The Health Care Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, applies their knowledge and skills in order to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
