Job summary

AgeCare Ltd. Skypointe in Calgary is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join the care team. You will work under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide safe, basic resident care.

Responsibilities include assisting with baths, transfers, meals, and mobility, following care plans, and supporting residents in activities. Fluency in English and a PCA/HCA certificate are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment.
• Completion of PCA/HCA 2002 or greater certificate or equivalent education certificate.
• Active registration with CLHA. (Alberta Health Care Aides)
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to care plans.
• Assist with transfers using appropriate equipment and PPE.
• Assist with feeding and meal times, refer to care plans for diets.
• Provide routine treatments and care procedures under supervision.
• Support residents moving around the facility and to activities.

The Health Care Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, applies their knowledge and skills in order to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents. **What You Will Do*** Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.* Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt)**.*** Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.* Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.* Assist residents to travel about the facility.* Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
