AgeCare Sandringham in Victoria, BC is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our care team. Under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, you will assist residents with personal care and daily activities, following the care plan and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Completion of PCA/HCA certificate or equivalent education.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to care plans and water procedures.
• Assist with transfers using lifts and transfer belts with PPE.
• Feed residents and support meals, following dietary plans.
• Provide routine treatments and care under supervision of a Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel, attend meals, activities, and therapies.
• Support grooming, recreation, and social functions within the facility.

Work Location: AgeCare SandringhamAddress: 1650 Fort Street Victoria, BC V8R 1H9FTE: 0.68Employment Type: Regular Part-TimeThe OpportunityA Health Care Aide (HCA) works as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care, to meet individual needs within the level of knowledge, skill sets & competency. The HCA, under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, applies this knowledge and these skills to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
