Job description

Associate Recruitment Consultant, Mechanical and Electrical Construction, BC

Your New Company :

For over 30 years, our client has provided eco-friendly, and excellent quality service to the Lower Mainland and beyond! Specializing in large-scale projects, high-profile design-build work, retrofit applications, and clean energy solutions - our client’s full-service offerings span the residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors. Now, they are seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join their team!

Your New Role :

As the Health and Safety Manager, you will report to the Executive Vice President and HR Director, and mentor the Health and Safety Coordinator. You will lead all health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation, maintaining training and certifications, conducting audits and inspections, and providing reports to senior management. Your role includes fostering a culture of safety, supporting both field and office staff, and continuously improving the health and safety program. You will manage incident investigations, claims, and necessary paperwork, provide in-house training, and conduct site visits, inspections, and audits. Additionally, you will advise on regulations, fall protection, occupational health, hazardous substances, and client training programs. You will initiate, develop, and implement health and safety awareness through various programs, systems, committees, and engagement activities. Your efforts will be crucial in maintaining a safe working environment and enhancing the reputation of the Health and Safety department. You will handle employee personnel escalations, manage WCB claims, and ensure compliance with up-to-date safety regulations. By conducting field visits, inspections, and audits of construction job sites, you will ensure adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.

What You Need To Succeed :

The ideal candidate should have post-secondary education or certification in Health & Safety or Human Resources, with experience in construction or industrial services. Experience in a COR certified environment and knowledge of CVOR practices are assets. They must understand Federal and Provincial Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, the Human Rights Code, and WCB. Key skills include project prioritization, workload management, interpersonal and leadership abilities, analytical thinking, time management, and organization. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and business software is required. The candidate should be a proactive self-starter, capable of handling conflict, making informed decisions, and working both independently and as part of a team.

What You Will Receive :

As the H&S Manager, you will earn a competitive salary ranging from $100k to $130k, based on your experience. Additionally, you will receive a car allowance, gas card, and comprehensive company-paid benefits. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor and guide a Safety Coordinator who will report directly to you, while being part of an established and successful company.

What To Do Now :

If this opportunity in the electrical industry sounds like it could be the right next step within your career, apply now. Your Hays consultant, Dewa Zafar, is looking forward to connecting with those who meet the above qualifications to discuss the next step.
