Job summary

Aplin is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead/Specialist to support operations across Winnipeg and Manitoba. This hands-on role involves field site visits, incident investigations, hazard identification, and delivering training to promote a proactive safety culture.

You will work with the current safety leader, gaining in-depth knowledge of the organization, its people, and safety practices, with growing ownership over time. Travel is approximately 25% with regular site visits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of health & safety experience, preferably within construction or a related industry.
• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is an asset.
• COR certification is a strong asset.
• Strong knowledge of Manitoba OHS legislation and workplace safety requirements.
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• A practical, hands-on approach to health and safety.
• Comfortable working independently and spending time in the field.
• Valid driver’s license and clean criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Take a lead role in supporting and continually improving the company’s health and safety program.
• Conduct regular workplace and job-site inspections throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba.
• Identify hazards, assess risk, and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Lead or support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations.
• Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, toolbox meetings, and other safety communications.
• Work closely with supervisors and employees to identify safety concerns and develop practical solutions.
• Maintain safety documentation and support internal and external audits and compliance requirements.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Monitor changes to Manitoba OHS legislation and industry best practices and help ensure the organization remains compliant.

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Lead / Specialist to join our client’s team in a hands‑on, field‑focused role supporting operations throughout Winnipeg and across Manitoba.

This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional looking to take the next step in their career and assume increasing responsibility for the organization’s health and safety program. The successful candidate will work closely with the current safety leader, gaining in-depth knowledge of the organization, its people, operations, and safety practices, with the opportunity to take on greater ownership of the function over the next several years.

This is not a desk‑based safety role. Your time will be divided between the office and field, conducting site visits and inspections, supporting incident investigations, identifying hazards, providing training, and working directly with supervisors and employees to promote a strong and proactive safety culture.

Travel is approximately 25%, primarily day trips throughout Manitoba, with typically 1–4 overnight stays per month. A flexible travel schedule is available; however, regular site visits are an important part of the position.

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For
