Job summary

Worksite Safety Compliance Centre in Burlington/Hamilton, ON, is seeking a part-time Health & Safety Instructor to deliver the Working at Heights program at our training centres and occasionally at other locations in the area.

The role requires 3+ years of training delivery, a construction or fall-hazard background, and a valid Ontario driver's license for occasional travel. Competitive hourly rate offered with supportive team culture.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of training delivery experience (Working at Heights preferred).
  • Background in construction management and/or fall hazard-related industry.
  • Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Working at Heights training to job seekers, the public, and industry members.
  • Evaluate participants through practical skills and written assessments.
  • Organize and submit participant records (digital and hard copy).
  • Participate in team meetings and instructor development workshops.

Position: Health & Safety Instructor - Working at Heights Trainer

Employment: Part-time

Location: Burlington and Hamilton, ON

Salary: $31 - $36/hr, DOE

If you are a knowledgeable and experienced health and safety professional who is passionate about construction or industrial safety training and keeping workers safe, this role is for you!

Worksite Safety Compliance Centre is looking for an instructor to increase the delivery of our CPO-approved Working at Heights program. The Instructor will deliver training at either of our Burlington and Hamilton Training Centres and occasionally at other locations within the area, working 2 - 4 days/week, weekdays and/or weekends. There may also be an opportunity to train in other subject areas in the future (confined space entry or mobile equipment use, for example).

As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:
  • Delivering engaging and informative Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry
  • Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation
  • Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
  • Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops
The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • 3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights program preferred)
  • Background in construction management and/or other fall hazard-related industry
  • Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred
  • Forklift, mobile elevated work platforms and confined space entry and rescue considered an asset
  • Strong interest educating people on the importance and value of health & safety training
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also contributing to a team
  • Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
  • Valid Ontario Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
  • Able to legally work in Canada
