Job summary

Worksite Safety is seeking a Health & Safety Instructor for a part-time weekend role in Waterloo/Cambridge, Ontario. The position offers 8–16 hours per week with an hourly wage of 31.00–36.00 CAD.

Training centers in Waterloo and Cambridge will host classes on weekends, with occasional weekday availability. The instructor will deliver Working at Heights courses, assess participants, and may cover MEWP and other safety topics.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights preferred, MEWP asset).
  • Background in construction management and/or fall hazard-related industry.
  • Forklift, MEWP and other mobile equipment experience is a plus.
  • Occupational health & safety certification or experience preferred.
  • Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and in a team.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence; occasional travel.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry.
  • Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation.
  • Potentially delivering other courses such as MEWP Training, Confined Space Entry and Rescue and more.
  • Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training.
  • Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops.

Position:Health & Safety Instructor
Employment: Part-time Weekends (8 - 16 Hours/Week)
Location: Waterloo/Cambridge, ON

Salary: $31.00 - 36.00 per hour

If you are a knowledgeable and experienced health and safety instructor who is passionate about construction safety education and keeping workers safe, this role is for you!

Worksite Safety is looking to grow our current team of instructors, specifically for the delivery of our CPO-approved Working at Heights program. There is also an opportunity for this instructor to train others on mobile elevated work platforms. This part-time hourly-based position is currently open and will deliver classes at our Training Centres in Waterloo and Cambridge, Ontario and working hours will be 8am-4pm weekends, and occasional weekdays if availability permits.

As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:
  • Delivering engaging and informative Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry
  • Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation
  • Potentially delivering other courses such as Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Training, Confined Space Entry and Rescue and more.
  • Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
  • Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops
The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • 3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights preferred, MEWP considered an asset)
  • Background in construction management and/or other fall hazard-related industry
  • Forklift, mobile elevated work platforms and any other mobile equipment experience considered an asset
  • Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred
  • Strong interest educating people on the importance and value of health & safety training
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also contributing to a team
  • Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
  • Valid Ontario’s Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
  • Able to legally work in Canada
