Job summary

A leading mining company located in Northeastern Ontario is seeking a Health and Safety Field Coordinator. In this capacity, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and fostering a positive safety culture. The ideal candidate should hold a degree or diploma in a related discipline and possess at least five years' experience in the mining sector. Excellent administrative skills and knowledge of safety acts are essential. The position offers a 14/14 work schedule with accommodations and meals provided on-site.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Health & Safety Supervisor, you will be part of the Health & Safety Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships to provide technical expertise and guidance with internal stakeholders to ensure all business needs are well understood and satisfied from the health and safety (HS) perspective;
  • Participate in the preparation of HS team and site health and safety performance monitoring / activity reporting requirements;
  • Execute analyzing to identify, and measure workplace hazards that can cause sickness, impaired health, or significant discomfort in workers; gather information and submit reports, interface with departments;
  • Analyze and utilize performance monitoring to drive continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Implement HS management systems and practices, taking into account quality, cost, safety, production and overall business needs;
  • Support the HS management system software solution e-compliance by working with others to implement, provide training and manage the administration of the system(s);
  • Support and engage in programs that develop organizational capabilities to identify, monitor and control hazards in the workplace;
  • Perform site inspections to assess workplace hazards and ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols;
  • Facilitate and assist the completion of incident and accident investigations and root cause analysis;
  • Manage, deliver and administer side wide safety training programs as required;
  • Promote positive health, safety and environmental culture and the Internal Responsibility System.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Degree or Diploma in a Health and Safety related discipline;
  • 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in the mining sector;
  • Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction & mining regulations;
  • Experience with HSE management system software;
  • Experience with the implementation and monitoring of industrial hygiene programs;
  • Experience with the International Cyanide management Code and ISO 4501 are considered assets.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
WORK SCHEDULE

Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
