Job Description

Position Title: HS&E Coordinator

Reports To: HS&E Senior Manager

Department: HS&E

FLSA: Exempt

Location: Belleville, MI / Detroit, MI

Job Summary

Reporting to the HS&E Senior Manager, the HS&E Coordinator will assist in managing metrics and reports, developing systems and data management capabilities to support HS&E programs, and enhancing understanding of HS&E policies among participants. The role involves administrative tasks and project site visits with field personnel in a fast-paced environment serving utility and municipal clients’ construction and maintenance needs.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  1. Assist in implementing, evaluating, and enforcing the company’s environmental health and safety policies and programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Help develop mitigation measures and corrective actions based on observations and inspection deficiencies to minimize hazards.
  3. Design and deliver training programs for new hires and current employees on health, safety, and environmental issues.
  4. Manage inventory tracking of PPE and safety equipment used across the company.
  5. Collaborate with leaders to drive HS&E strategy throughout the organization.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of safety standards such as MIOSHA, OSHA, and DOT.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record (MVR check required).
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills; self-motivated and proactive.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or higher degree in safety, business administration, or related field.
  • Or, at least 3 years of experience in construction-related industries focusing on safety or administration.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Annual salary between $40,000 and $55,000, based on experience.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage (eligibility after 90 days).
  • Group life insurance, long-term disability, and flexible spending accounts.
  • Retirement plan with up to 4% employer match (after 6 months).
  • Overtime opportunities.
